Celebrating Diwali

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find out what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world.

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that tells others what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world. Something I found interesting was goodness took over evil because Rama the person who defeated Ravana and he was the evil spirited.

I found this activity great because in diwali they light the candle in the diya and they put in water and they pry for the gods.

Inchcape Rock

LI: To find and summarise the story behind the poem

The ship sits still, no sight of wind nor waves. The waves overflow the bell, but no movement was found. A bell rings when the tide is high for sailors. Mariners go past the inchcape rock and blesses Abbot of Aberbrothok. As the sun was shining the sea-birds screamed and wheeled. The Inchcape rock was seen, Sir Ralph walked over his deck. He felt a singing sensation and sang with a mirth. His crew lowered a boat. He rowed to the Inchcape Rock. Sir Ralph cut the Inchcape bell from the inchcape float. The bell sank, Ralph quotes no one will bless Aberbrothok. Sir Ralph sails away with his stolen equipment from sailers. Rover notice it’s getting dark and was seeing no land. They thought they were nearby but saw complete darkness. Darkness is seen, they wish to hear the Inchcape bell. It was silent until crash “we’ve hit the Inchcape Rock”. Sir Ralph tore his hair and cursed himself in pain. Slowly dying, he hears the horrid sound of his death. 

Our challenge was to unpack the story behind the 17 verses of the poem Inchcape Rock by Robert Southy. The part I found interesting was Sir Ralph cut the inchcape bell because Sir Ralph quotes no one will bless Aberbrothok.

I found this activity good because It tells the peom about about inchcape bell.

Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find the story behind this picture

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that shows where this lighthouse is and what the story is behind the image. We found out that the Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument is a lighthouse in 1989 and Theodore Malgorn thought he was rescue and Jean Guichard circled above the lighthouse from the photo and in 1990 he was secord of the world-press for his famous photo.

I found this activity interesting because It tells about the lighthouse was seen the midst of a storm wave crashing.

Current Events

LI: Wrote about in the google maps and reading the newspaper.

For this activity we were searching for 10 current events that has happened in other countrys.

We were looking for places that had interesting things to happen in. The most interesting event that had happen was that russia was planning to launch to the moon. When we find something interesting we talk about what is so interesting about this place.
I enjoyed this activity because it was very interesting to see what event has happened.

Nuclear Protest

L.I: To learn about NZ History

For this weeks work we did history, the task was national so everything was in NZ we did history about nuclear. France tested the nuclear weapons in the pacific ocean.

Many New Zealand residents understood that the US has a lot of nuclear weapons and also uses nuclear power in some of its warships.  As part of the ANZUS alliance the US planned to send its warships to New Zealand harbours for visits. Fast forward 20 years and many New Zealanders are opposed to having nuclear warships in our harbours as it poses a hazard to the residence as nuclear reactors can contaminate the water and cause massive damage to the environment and numerous other safety hazards. Following this statement a man named George Armstrong organised a peace squadron to intercept the USS Haddo from entering Waitemata harbour, the squadron consisted of kayaks, boats, dinghies, and other water vessels. Following the end of world war 2.

Main Ideas

LI: To identify the main ideas in the text

This week we have been learning how to find and collaboratively decide on the main idea in a text by negotiating. We read the text Lester and Clyde. This was a text about the consequences of pollution. Our group think the main idea was the yellow words highlitghted.

We found this activity good because we wrote down the Important ideas and vital ideas.

 

Evaluation

I learned about evaluation.

First we read four article in the google slide and evaluation means to think both sides of an issue.

Next we wrote down the piece of paper for our ideas and then we copy the google slide.

Last I wrote down my opinion and I wrote down yes and no in the google slide.

I enjoyed because I like doing reading. I did well at writing the opinion. I need to improve on writing more information.

SSR Selfie

I learned about ssr selfie.

First I read for 15 minutes.

Then I wrote down what happen in the story.

Last I wrote down three new means.

I learned about summaising.

First I wrote down the 20 important words.

Then I wrote down the 6 most important.

Lastly I wrote down the summaising.

I enjoyed because I like doing reading. I did well at writing the summaising. I need to improve on writing full stops.
