We Don’t Want Cyberbullies – Silver Care Award

LI: To tell people why we don’t want cyberbullies.

Why we don’t want cyberbullies because they cause verbal abuse to other people and they will get affect by the cyberbullies. If you on the site where you are getting bullied from strangers get off the site or explan to your parents and guardian member. Cyberbullies will get you by being angry, upest, depressed and frustrated.

I enjoyed this activity because this can show the effect of what cyberbullying can do to others.

Current Events

LI: Wrote about in the google maps and reading the newspaper.

For this activity we were searching for 10 current events that has happened in other countrys.

We were looking for places that had interesting things to happen in. The most interesting event that had happen was that russia was planning to launch to the moon. When we find something interesting we talk about what is so interesting about this place.
I enjoyed this activity because it was very interesting to see what event has happened.

Collaborative Art

LI:  To use different types of warm and cool colours to recreate a world-known painting from Van Gogh.

This week’s art is about Van Gogh and his famous art piece “The Starry Night”. The Class was divided into 2 groups of 16 people, 1 of each group remade “The Starry Night” in warm colours and cool colours digitally. Each group divided 16 pieces of the Starry Night with each person in the group. Working as a collaborative team we gathered all or pieces to 1 DLO to finally reach our desired outcome.

I found this activity good because doing handdrawing and matching is good.

How to read a nutrition label

LI:  To read food labels and understand what they tell us 

This week’s inquiry is about nutrition labels and how we read them. Our task was to make a poster that tells us how to read a nutrition label and how much of the portion should it have in a meal to be a healthy diet. We had to choose between 9 cereals that was the most healthiest by reading the nutrition label individually and I chose weet bix because if you eat it that gives you energy.

I found this activity was good because they will tells us to read the Nutrition so we will understand about the less sugars.

Procedural Writing

LI: To write a set of clear instructions that show how to make a hangi.

  1. You need to dig a pit.
  2. You have to stack up some twigs and put volcanic rocks on top and light the twigs on fire
  3. After it’s done you have to put the volcanic rocks in the pit  and then put meat and vegetables in the pit (on tray)
  4. You have to put the  layers of cloths on the trays and you have to put the dirt on the pit  
  5. After 3 hours you have to remove the dirt and the cloths you are done and  you can eat kia

DO NOT LEAVE THE HANGI UNATTEND

Today we unpacked how to follow and write a set of instructions. To do this effectively your instructions need to be explicit and the steps to follow ordered. Each step begins with an instructional verb and should be written in a way that is easy to understand.

I enjoyed Procedural because we have to listen the our steps slowly.

Research about Scurvy

LI: To understand what a balanced diet looks like and why it is important for human health.

For our first Inquiry topic for Term 2 we did a study about what a scurvy is a disease caused from vitamin C. how can people get affected, the people will get vitamin c . And what can we do to avoid it. We wrote did you know facts to help us be able to learn about scurvy such as, eating fruits. Did you know that scurvy can occur at the age of 6 to 12 months. Scurvy is caused by lack of Vitamin C for at least 3 months. I was mostly common for pirates/sailors.

I found this activity good because we have to eat the fruits.

 

ClassRooms Expectations

LI: To follow the classroom rules and expectations (including wet day procedures)

This week we did a PB4L poster discussing about the Class Expectations and Rules and why they’re important to follow. This poster is also about respecting the teachers and pupils in the classroom. An example of this is respecting the class room and It is important to follow these because you will be kind and helping people.

I found this activity good because we have to follow the rules at schools.

Moko-Ika-Hikuwaru Art

LI : To learn and illustrait a taniwha using our imagination.

This week we did a drawing on the Taniwha Legend. A Taniwha is a dragon-like creature that has 8 tails, red eyes, spiky body. It also  lives in the deep waters such as Rivers, Lakes, And Caves it also lives in the Panmure basin. In conclusion This is what my group imagined and drew.

I found this activity amazing because we had learnt about the Legend of the Taniwha and we got to learnt his whereabouts.

Kauri Dieback

LI: To gather statistics and protect the Kauri Tree from getting the Kauri Disease.

The following week after camp we did a research about the Kauri Dieback. Then we created a DLO about the Kauri Disease on how we can prevent it from destroying our nature. Though we can do things such as cleaning our shoes will to stop the disease from killing our tree.

I found this activity good because it will stop the disease or it will die.

Brochure

LI: To remember and give information about Kokako Lodge

After camp, we created a brochure about information and highlights about our experiences at Kokako Lodge. We used our persuasive skills and gave reasons to why our audience would want to go. We used pictures to show what it is like at Kokako Lodge and what they provide for you.

I found this activity good because we spend time in camp.
